For my personal bunnies I have a dedicated bedroom. There are two large pens within.
Not everyone has the available space to provide their bunnies. So what are some minimum space requirements to provide for a bunny?
The bunny should be able to move around, be able to stand on its hind legs, and sprawl out in several areas around the pen. If the bunny cannot do any of those activities, then the pen is most likely too small. I highly recommend an ex-pen for a basic area for a bunny or two. They are typically 4 feet by 4 feet, giving ample room to move around. This allows plenty of space for a good sized litter box (I use the jumbo size cat litter boxes) and some toys.
Purchasing a x-pen can be quite pricey, unless you know where to look. Check out Amazon, eBay, or Craigslist for getting an ex-pen. The pens will run you about $45, depending on the size. If you want to purchase one from your local pet store, you will be looking at spending over $100. You can also create a pen, like I did, with wire bookshelf panels. To create a custom pen to your own living environment.
Keep in mind that these minimum requirements are for when your bunny is required to be in their pen, not when getting exercise time. You should always give the bunny ample room to run around at least once a day.
